Freshman outside hitter Logan Tom (Salt Lake City/Highland HS) had 17 kills to lead #7 Stanford to a dominating straight-game 15-4, 15-10, 15-6 victory over Arizona State in a Pac-10 volleyball match this evening at Maples Pavilion. Stanford has now won 50 straight home Pac-10 matches, 34 straight home matches overall and has not lost a single game at Maples Pavilion this season. The Cardinal will put all three streaks on the line when #18 Arizona visits tomorrow evening in a match to be televised live by Fox Sports Net (7:30 pm).

"This match was a good chance for us to use a lot of players and get ready for Arizona tomorrow night," said 16th-year head coach Don Shaw as he improved to 422-69 all-time on the Farm. "Tomorrow night should be a knock 'em down, drag it out affair."

Stanford improves to 13-2 overall and 7-1 in the Pac-10 with its 12th victory in the last 13 matches. Arizona State falls to 9-5 overall and 5-3 in the Pac-10. Stanford has won 12 straight matches over the Sun Devils.

Tom ranked 20th in the nation in kills coming into the match and now has a 5.05 kill per game average through the Cardinal's first 15 matches.

Senior middle blocker Kerri Walsh (Saratoga, CA/Archbishop Mitty HS) charged into the record books this evening and is now ranked #5 on the school's career lists for blocks (408) and digs (1094). Walsh nearly recorded a triple-double this evening with 10 kills, 11 digs and seven blocks. Freshman outside hitter Lindsey Yamasaki (Oregon City, OR/Oregon City HS), also a standout basketball player at Stanford, made her most significant contribution of the season with a career-high 10 kills in just two games played. Sophomore middle blocker Sara Sandrick (Pelham, AL/Pelham HS) and junior middle blocker Jennifer Detmer (Thousand Oaks, CA/Thousand Oaks HS) each had 10 kills as well. Junior setter Lindsay Kagawa (Albany, CA/Albany HS) recorded 58 assists, her second-highest total of the season.

Junior outside hitter Amanda Burbridge (Scottsdale, AZ/Chaparral HS) paced Arizona State with 17 kills, while senior opposite/middle blocker Jamie Peck (Tempe, AZ/Corona del Sol HS) added 10 kills.

The Cardinal were never seriously threatened in the match as they hit .383 as a team, marking the ninth time this year that the club has hit .300 or better in a match. Stanford also outblocked the Sun Devils, 11-3.
