The Stanford women's soccer team concluded play at the Santa Clara Tournament on Sunday with a 3-1 victory over Evansville. The Cardinal received goals from freshman Marcia Wallis and Becky Myers and senior Kelly Adamson in a win that improved Stanford's record to 7-3.
Wallis' goal 10-minutes into the game gave the Cardinal an early lead and marked the third time Wallis has scored a goal this week. The goal boosted Wallis' goal total to five for the season.
At the 20-minute mark, Adamson scored her fifth goal of the season, which proved to be the game winner. Adamson also added an assist on Wallis' first half goal, giving her the team lead in points with 11.
Myers continued her impressive freshman season by netting a ball in at the 70th-minute for her fifth goal of the season. Myers' goal scoring streak has now reached three games.
The Cardinal out-shot Evansville 18-to-2 in the game, while taking 10 corner kicks to Evansville's two. Junior goalkeeper Carly Smolak gave up one goal and made a save in the contest. For the season, Smolak has a 1.33 goals-against average with two shutouts and 15 saves.
