Stanford, Calif. - Stanford sophomores Bethany Donaphin and Cori Enghusen recorded 14 points each to lead Stanford to an 83-52 win over Lokomotiva Kosice from Slovakia Friday night at Maples Pavilion.
The team will open its regular season Friday, Nov. 19 with a game at USF at 7 p.m. The Cardinal home opener will be held Sunday, Nov. 21 vs. No. 7 Iowa State.
Against the Slovakian team, Donaphin recorded a double double after playing only 14 minutes, posting 10 points and 10 rebounds before the half. She recorded four more points and four more rebounds in the second half. She shot 6-of-10 from the field, and 2-of-3 from the line. She also led the team in blocked shots with three. As a freshman, Donaphin averaged 7.2 points per game, and 6.1 rebounds. Her 14 rebounds against Slovakia matches her career-high, which she set against California last season.
Enghusen also led the Cardinal in scoring with 14 points against the Slovakian team including 10 in 10 minutes in the second half. Her freshman season, she averaged 1.8 points per game and 1.8 rebounds.
Carolyn Moos recorded a double double with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Freshman guard Jamie Carey had five points, four rebounds and had five assists.
