STANFORD, Calif. - All-America forward candidate Mark Madsen scored 14 points and grabbed eleven rebounds to help lead the Stanford basketball team to a come-from-behind 90-77 victory over Athletes in Action in an exhibition game Thursday night at Maples Pavilion.
Jarron Collins also added 14 points as the Cardinal placed five players in double figures. Ryan Mendez and freshman Casey Jacobsen each added 13 points, while David Moseley added eleven.
Stanford trailed late in the first half, 29-22, and 34-30 at halftime. But the Cardinal outscored Athletes in Action in the second half, 60-43. An 11-0 run early in the second half gave the Cardinal a 47-41 lead, and Stanford never looked back.
Stanford shot 50 percent from the floor, and outrebounded AIA, 47-29.
Former Golden State Warrior David Wood helped lead Athletes in Action with 15 points and seven rebounds.
Stanford opens the regular season on Nov. 11 against Duke in the opening round of the Coaches vs Cancer Tournament at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
