Box Score

STOCKTON, Calif. - Junior Carolyn Moos had 22 points and nine rebounds and sophomore Bethany Donaphin added 19 points and 11 boards to lead Stanford (4-3) to a 70-55 road win over Pacific (5-2) on Monday night at the Spanos Center.

Stanford won the game on the boards. The Cardinal out-rebounded the Tigers by an overwhelming 58-29 margin, including a 36-11 advantage in the second half. The 58 rebounds was just five shy of the school single-game record set at 63 on Jan. 11, 1980 vs. Pennsylvania.

Head coach Tara VanDerveer said, "They (Pacific) made it hard for us. It was great to see our post players step up. The constant for us in the second half was Bethany and Carolyn, offensively, defensively and on the boards."

For the third straight game, Stanford jumped out to a big early lead. After a Christina Batastini layup, the Cardinal led 16-4 just nine minutes into the contest. The Tigers, however, used a 9-1 run later in the half to even the score at 24. The Cardinal then used a free-throw and long-range jumper by Moos in the final 40 seconds to take a 34-31 halftime lead.

The Cardinal lead remained at three with 13 minutes remaining before it went on a 10-3 run to bring the lead into double digits. The Tigers crept within 58-50 with five minutes to play, but Stanford scored eight of the next 10 points to put the game out of reach.

Moos finished the game 7-of-8 from the floor and was also 2-of-2 from 3-point range. In the second half alone, Moos recorded 15 points and five rebounds. Donaphin was 8-of-12 from the floor in addition to the season-high 11 rebounds. Sarah Dimson was the third Cardinal to record a double-digit rebound total as she posted 11 for the second consecutive game.

After a six-day break for Christmas, Stanford returns to action on Monday, December 27 when it hosts St. Mary's at 7:30 at Maples Pavilion.
