No. 2 Stanford Beats No. 18 Pacific 14-2

March 7, 1999

STOCKTON, Calif. - Sophomore Dani Bell (Long Beach, CA/Wilson) scored four times and senior goalie Heather Crary (Atherton, CA/Menlo School) made nine saves to lead No. 2 Stanford past No. 18 Pacific 14-2 in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation game Sunday in Stockton. The Cardinal improves to 11-2 overall, 4-0 in MPSF play, while the Tigers fall to 1-2, 0-2.

Stanford scored four times in each of the first three quarters, and led 9-0 before Pacific got on the board. Bell, the Cardinal's leading returning scorer from last season, became the first Stanford player to score four times in a game this year. Senior Lindsay Tam (Honolulu, HI/Punahou), sophomore Kelly Shouey (Concord, CA/Carondelet) and freshman Margie Dingeldein (Merced, CA/Merced) each tallied twice for the Cardinal, which saw eight of its 11 field players notch a goal. The Cardinal will be off for two weeks due to final exams, but will return to action Saturday, March 20 against No. 10 San Jose State. That game is at deGuerre Pool at noon.
