TEMPE, AZ - Second-ranked Stanford University (4-2 overall, 1-1 in the Pac-10) won 12 of 16 events in a 174-122 dual meet victory over host Arizona State (5-4-1, 0-2) on Saturday afternoon at Mona Plummer Aquatic Center.
Sophomore Misty Hyman (Phoenix, AZ/Shadow Mountain HS) made a successful homecoming with victories in the 100-yard butterfly (54.18) and 200-yard freestyle (1:48.78). Senior Carissa Zenorini (Demarest, NJ/Northern Valley Reg. HS) and freshman Shelly Ripple (Baton Rouge, LA/Parkview Baptist HS) also won two events apiece for the Cardinal. Ripple captured the 200-yard backstroke (2:01.01) and 200-yard butterfly (1:59.15), while Zenorini won the one-meter (275.40) and three-meter (300.15) diving competitions.
Stanford wraps up its 1998-99 home schedule this weekend at deGuerre Pool, when it hosts No. 17 UCLA on Friday and No. 5 USC on Saturday. Both meets begin at 1 p.m.
