"We got down early and made a few mistakes. They capitalized on a hit or two and it was tough to come back. They played well and Jason (Young) threw well."

"I thought Jason threw terrific. He had very good command and it seemed like he was able to put the ball where he wanted to. We possibly had him in the sixth inning but he was able to get tough and make big pitches."
STANFORD ASSISTANT COACH TOM DUNTON
"It was a great game. We'll certainly take that this day and age with the aluminum bat. We're very pleased with Jason's (Young) effort to get a complete game against that type of competition. He has done that all year, he has been our top guy. The way he can pitch inside with the aluminum bat is just a little amazing."
(On getting off to a fast start)
"It's extremely important, we found that out last year. They're a darn good team and we were very impressed with how they played. The big inning (5th) took a little pressure of us. Jason coming out and pitching the way he did early was huge."

"Last year they surprised us and took it to us pretty good. This year we knew what to expect. We knew we were going to face a tough team and a tough game."
"We knew Traber had good stuff but we also knew that we have a good team and it didn't matter who they put out on the mound. We were just going to go out and play our game and do what we have been doing all year."
"I think this game showcased the way we've been playing all year. Jason going out and eating up innings turns on the whole game. Everybody is contributing, doing what is asked of them, and that is what it came down to tonight."

"Early in the game I was spotting my fastball really well. I was throwing my curveball just to show them in the beginning. In the last few innings I started to overthrow a little bit so I started thinking about my mechanics and made a few adjustments."
