Standout guard Molly Goodenbour will be honored in the fourth of the six-poster series.

STANFORD, Calif. - The Guarding the Tradition collection is a commemorative series of six
original posters celebrating the excellence of Stanford Women's Basketball.
Six outstanding guards; Jennifer Azzi, Molly Goodenbour, Sonja Henning,
Kate Paye, Kate Starbird and Jamila Wideman will be rendered in the
powerful, single black brush strokes of sumi-e-Japanese brush painting-by
Stanford senior Drue Kataoka. The basketball stars' images depicted in the
original paintings will be featured in six new posters for the 1999-2000
season.
The fourth poster of this limited edition commemorative series,
"Championship Networking," honors former Stanford great Molly Goodenbour. A
Cardinal from 1990-93, Goodenbour led Stanford to its second NCAA
Championship, defeating Western Kentucky 78-62 in a game which tied the
record for the largest margin of victory in an NCAA women's championship
game. In "Championship Networking" Molly Goodenbour takes a champion's
stance on victory's ladder and whirls the coveted net around her head.
Victory's sweetest moment is savored as the viewer gazes at Goodenbour's
triumphant presence. The outstanding guard scales the steep ladder with
ease. Each step evokes another rung of success for the Stanford Cardinal
on their wining season to a national championship. With the swish of the
brush, the swish of the net embodies all possibilities for women in sports.
The closely woven network of friendships and bonds made on The Farm
imprinted on the soft edges of memory
"Championship Networking" will be released on Saturday, Feb. 5 when the
Stanford women's basketball team takes on USC. Molly Goodenbour and artist
Drue Kataoka will be available at the game to present the original painting
to the university, and autograph posters for fans. Only 250 of each poster
will be printed in this numbered limited edition, and will be sold for $25.
All proceeds from the six posters in the Guarding The Tradition collection
will benefit the Stanford women's basketball program. Copies of the first
three posters of the series "Bird Soars to New Heights" depicting Kate
Starbird, "Jam Session" honoring Jamila Wideman and "Trailblazing with
Azzi" featuring Jennifer Azzi are still available by calling the women's
basketball office at (650) 723-0284.
