No. 2 Stanford Women's Water Polo Defeats San Jose State 11-1, UC Santa Barbara 9-6 in First Day of UCSD Tournament

San Diego, Calif. - Sophomore Margie Dingeldein scored six goals to lead Stanford women's water polo to a season opening 11-1 victory over No. 9 San Jose State and 9-6 win over UC Santa Barbara in the first day of the UC San Diego Arena NoGrip Tournament.

Other top scorers for the Cardinal against the Spartans include juniors Ali Riddell, Hilary Gallogly and Anne-Marie Keenan who scored two goals each. Against the Gauchos, freshman Nicole Huszcz and sophomore Kate Pettit each recorded two goals.

The Cardinal will remain in San Diego throughout the weekend, and will continue tournament play against UC San Diego on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. and UCLA at 5:20. The tournament championships will be played on Sunday.
