Women's Water Polo Falls to Cal and USC in Final Day of UCSD Tournament

San Diego, Calif. - Stanford women's water polo went 0-2 in the final day of the UC San Diego Tournament against cross-bay rival Cal and USC, 5-4 in both games.

Against Cal, Margie Dingeldein, Kate Pettit, Kelly Shouey and Anne-Marie Keenan each scored one goal. In the consolation game against No. 1-ranked USC, Julie Gardner scored two goals, and Hilary Gallogly and Anne-Marie Keenan scored one goal each.

Stanford opened the 2000 season at the three-day tournament, and went 4-2 against the top teams in the country. In the six games during the tournament, junior Anne-Marie Keenan scored nine goals and sophomore Margie Dingeldein recorded eight. In her collegiate debut, freshman Julie Gardner scored six goals. Junior Hilary Gallogly also posted six goals, and Kate Pettit recorded five points for the Cardinal.

The women's water polo team will be back in action on Saturday, Feb. 19 at noon when the Cardinal will travel to Bay Area foe San Jose State.
