Cal Men's Gymnasts Top Stanford

BERKELEY - The California men's gymnastics team moves to 7-0 on the season after beating Stanford for the fourth time this season by a score of 227.675 to 223.300. Cal's score is their highest point total of the season, bettering their previous-season-best of 224.925 at the Cardinal Open on Jan. 29.

Junior Tal Moscovitz led all-scorers with a 9.800 on the floor exercise, followed closely by teammates Cody Moore (9.750) and Aaron Floyd (9.700). Freshman standout Michael Ashe continued to impress with a 9.925 on the pommel horse and a close-to-perfect score of 9.950 on the horizontal bar. Cal's Andrew Hampy led all-scorers on the vault with a 9.700 and junior David Eskildsen scored highest for the Bears with a 9.650 on the parallel bars.

Michael Ashe finished with the best all-around score of 57.625, while Stanford's Jason Katasampes placed second with a score of 57.150. Freshman Cody Moore was the only other Bear to compete in all six events, finishing third with an all-around score of 55.650.
