Stanford Women's Water Polo Defeats Loyola Marymount 13-2, San Jose State 10-7

Freshman Julie Gardner and sophomore Margie Dingeldein each scored five goals to lead Stanford women's water polo to a 2-0 record in the first day of the Santa Barbara Tournament. The Cardinal routed Loyola Marymount 13-2 in the first game of the day, and then went on to beat San Jose State 10-7 in the second game. Stanford is 3-0 against San Jose State so far this season.

Against Loyola Marymount, Dani Bell and Julie Gardner led the Cardinal with three goals each. Margie Dingeldein scored twice, and Kate Pettit, Kris Koblik, Nicole Huszcz, Ali Riddell and Hilary Gallogly scored one goal each. Against San Jose State, Pettit, Dingeldein and Gardner scored two goals each while Bell netted one goal.

Stanford now holds a season record of 7-2. The Cardinal will be back in action Sunday, Feb. 27 for the second day of the tournament.
