Stanford women's water polo advanced to the championship game of the UC Santa Barbara tournament, only to lose a close game to cross-bay rivals Cal 8-7 in overtime. Stanford defeated No. 1 UCLA 5-4 in the playoff game to reach the tournament championship game.
Stanford is 0-2 this season against the Golden Bears. At the UC San Diego Tournament, the Cardinal fell to the Bears in the tournament champion playoff game.
The Cardinal was lead in scoring by Margie Dingeldein, who scored twice in both games. Against the Bruins, Kris Koblik, Kate Pettit and Julie Gardner scored one goal each. Against Cal, Koblik, Gardner, Anne-Marie Keenan, Ali Riddell and Pettit each registered one goal.
Stanford went 3-1 at the UC Santa Barbara Tournament. The team holds an overall record of 8-3. The Cardinal will be back in action Friday, March 3 at 1 p.m. at USC to take on the Trojans in an MPSF Conference match.
