No. 2 Women's Water Polo Routs Michigan 15-2 in First Game of the AlohaClassic in HawaiiThe Cardinal will play San Jose State later today in the second game of thetournament.
No. 2 Stanford women's water polo routed No. 14 Michigan in thefirst game of the Aloha Classic. The Cardinal's record improves to 10-3.
Freshman Nicole Huszcz, junior Ali Riddell, junior Dani Bell,sophomore Kate Pettit, freshman Julie Gardner and junior Kelly Shoueyscored two goals each. Junior Hilary Gallogly, sophomore Margie Dingeldeinand junior Anne-Marie Keenan each scored once.
In the first quarter, Stanford led by only one goal, 2-1. TheCardinal jumped out into the lead in the second quarter when the teamscored six to Michigan's one goal, and the team kept going, scoring four tozero in the third quarter and three to zero in the fourth. The final scorewas 15-2.
Stanford will remain in Hawaii through Sunday. The Cardinal willplay No. 8 San Jose State Saturday and Hawaii in the Cardinal's second MPSFConference game of the season on Sunday.
