Stanford, CA - The Stanford men's crew team swept UC Davis on Saturday, April 8 at the Port of Sacramento to remain undefeated in dual-race competition this season. The varsity eight beat Davis 6:10 to 6:23. Stanford's junior varsity eight finished 11 seconds ahead of Davis 6:22 to 6:33. After being nosed out by Davis last week in San Diego, the Stanford novice eight beat Davis 6:28 to 6:31. Also, Stanford's novice four was six seconds faster than the Aggies.
In women's action, Stanford and Davis each finished in 7:00 for a dead heat in the varsity eight. Stanford's JV 8 crossed the finish line in 7:19, four seconds behind Davis. The Stanford novice eight finished second to UC Davis, 7:26 to 7:40.
On Saturday afternoon, Stanford's women's varsity eight defeated Kansas State 6:46 to 6:51. Kansas State beat Stanford in the junior varsity eight and novice eight competition.
The Stanford women raced Sacramento State on Sunday at the Port of Sacramento. Sac State defeated Stanford in the women's varsity eight, 6:51.4 to 6:54.5. Stanford's novice eight was also defeated by Sac State, 7:31.2 to 7:48. The junior varsity eight from Stanford picked up the lone victory against Sac State with a 7:16.7 to 7:23.7 win over the Hornets.
Next up for the Stanford men and women rowers is a trip to Vancouver, WA on April 15 for a dual race against Oregon State.
