Stanford, Calif. -- Stanford sophomore OF Jessica Mendoza (Camarillo, CA) has been named the Pac-10 Softball Player of the Week for April 4 - April 10, announced by the Pac-10 Conference today.
Mendoza hit .647 (11-for-17) in five games last week. This included four singles, four doubles, one triple, and one home run. Mendoza also recorded three runs scored and two RBI. She began the week with an eighth inning homer to give Stanford a 2-1 victory over Saint Mary's. She continued her tear by hitting a triple to drive in a run for Stanford against Arizona State. Mendoza went 6-for-7 with four doubles as Stanford split a pair of games against Arizona. In Saturday's 8-4 loss, Mendoza went a perfect 4-for-4 against Arizona's Jennie Finch (20-0). The next day, she hit two doubles to propel Stanford to a 4-3 victory over the Wildcats.
This marks the second player of the week award for Mendoza and the eighth overall for Stanford.
The ninth-ranked Cardinal will resume Pac-10 play on Friday as they host 12th-ranked Oregon State at 2 p.m. Stanford will face 22nd-ranked Oregon on Saturday at 2 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Stanford Softball Complex.
