Boise, Idaho - Stanford sophomore Katy Herbert turned in a third-place performance on the beam with a score of 9.863 at the event finals for the 2000 NCAA Gymnastics Championships.

Only a sophomore, Cardinal gymnast Katy Herbert has emerged as one of Stanford's top competitors on the balance beam. After placing in a tie for first place at the NCAA Regional Championships for the second year in a row, Herbert qualified for the NCAA Championships. Her score of 9.875 put her in a tie for third place in the event preliminaries on Thursday and put her into competition for the event final, held Saturday, April 15. Herbert turned in a third place performance on the beam in the finals with a score of 9.863. She finished behind Lena Degteva of UCLA, who scored a 9.913, and Mohini Bhardwaj of UCLA, who scored a 9.900.
