Eugene, Ore. -- The Stanford women's golf team concluded the 2000 Pac-10 Championships in second place after shooting a final round 297 for a three round total of 901 at the Eugene Country Club today. The University of Arizona walked away with the team title with its score of 883.
Freshman Kim Rowton finished the tournament in a tie for sixth place with two other golfers. Rowton had a final round 75 for a three-day total of 222. Rowton had been in fifth place entering the final round of competition.
Heading into the final round, Stanford sat in fourth place after consecutive rounds of 302, but was unable to close the gap on the Wildcats to fall by 18 strokes. Candie Kung of USC captured the individual title with a total of 218, one stroke ahead of Arizona's Jenna Daniels.
Junior All-American Stephanie Keever finished the tournament in a tie for 14th place with a 226. Junior All-American Hilary Homeyer, along with junior Salimah Mussani, finished in 17th place with a 227. For Mussani it marked the best three-round total for her since joining the team in January.
Senior JaeJean Ro finished tied for 32nd place with a 233, while junior Lauren Robertson, playing as an individual, scored a 235 for 39th place.
Stanford entered the championship as the defending 1999 Pac-10 Conference champions.
