STANFORD, Calif. - The Stanford men's soccer team will continue their 2000spring schedule on Tuesday night with a match against the A-League's BayArea Seals at New Maloney Field. Gametime is 7:30pm.
The Bay Area Seals have switched sides of the Bay in 2000, moving from SanFrancisco's Kezar Stadium to Cal-State Hayward's Pioneer Stadium. In 1999,the Seals were 9-19 in A-League play. After four games in 2000, the Sealsare 2-1-1 and tied for third in the Western Conference's Pacific Division.They've picked-up some former San Jose Clash players, including defendersTim Weaver and Troy Dayak, as well as midfielder Jeff Baicher. ForwardMarquis White played for Colorado last year in the MLS, and the Seals alsohave former San Jose State standout Todd Duncan.
Stanford will enter the match with a 2-1-1 record in the spring. Theycruised past the alumni squad 6-1, tied Santa Clara 0-0, lost to theEarthquakes 3-1, and beat UC-Davis 1-0. Stanford will be without theservices of sophomore forward Michael Murphy (St. Charles, IL), who torehis ACL in last Saturday's match versus UC-Davis.
