Sunriver, Ore. -- The Stanford women's golf team concluded the 2000 NCAA Team Championship in second place after a final round 300 at the Crosswater Club, giving the Cardinal a score of 1,196 for the tournament. Junior All-American Stephanie Keever (Las Vegas, NV) shot an even-par 72, including a hole-in-one on the 13th hole, to finished tied for fifth place with a 295.
The Cardinal sat in sixth place after the third round of play (896), three strokes behind second place USC, but tied Arizona State for the lowest final round score to move up four positions. The second place finish is the highest place for the Cardinal in NCAA Championship competition. Previously, Stanford had posted fourth place finishes in 1992, '95 and '97.
For Keever this also marked her best finish in the NCAA Tournament, surpassing her ninth place finish to conclude her freshman campaign. Keever began the day in a tie for 18th place.
"I hit the ball a little left of the pin and it hopped right in," said Keever about her hole-in-one on the par-3, 13th hole. "I'm really happy. [The team] worked really hard all year and although we didn't win a tournament this season, everybody really stepped up today."
Fellow junior All-American Hilary Homeyer (Edina, MN), concluded the tournament in a tie for 13th place with a 298 and a two-over par 74 in the final round. Freshman Kim Rowton (San Antonio, TX) concluded her first NCAA Tournament in the Top 20 with a 299 for 18th place. Stanford's lone senior, JaeJean Ro (San Jose, CA), concluded her career in a tie for 41st place with a 304, while junior Salimah Mussani (Burlington, Ontario) shot a final round 82 (336) for a 124th place finish.
Arizona won the team title with a commanding score of 1,175 and the Wildcats' Jenna Daniels took individual honors with a two-under 287.
