Top-ranked Women's Water Polo Sinks Princeton 17-7 in Second Round of National Championships

Indianapolis, IN. - Margie Dingeldein recorded four goals each to lead the Stanford women's water polo team to a 17-6 win over Princeton in the second round of the National Championships in Indianapolis, Ind.

Princeton was kept scoreless in the first period of play as Stanford jumped out to an early 6-0 lead. Kelly Shouey added three goals to Dingeldein's four, and Julie Gardner, Kate Pettit and Dani Bell each scored two goals. Gardner's scoring streak extends to 24. Nicole Huszcz, Hilary Gallogly and Amy Lightner all scored one goal each to give Stanford a total of 17 goals. Goalkeeper Jackie Frank made four saves, and Alli Henry made two.

Stanford's record improves to 27-4 and the Cardinal's win streak extends to 13 games. The Cardinal will play the winner of the USC/Massachusetts game in the semifinals on Saturday, May 6 at 5:15 p.m. The winner of that game will advance to the Championship game on Sunday, May 7. UCLA has already secured a place in the semifinals, and will play the winner of the Cal/San Diego State game to advance to the championship game.
