Stanford Edged In Double Overtime By American

College Park, Md. -- The Cardinal (5-8 Overall, 3-2 NorPac) fell 1-0 in double overtime this afternoon on the University of Maryland Artificial Turf Facility to American University (6-5).

The Eagles' Magdalena Aguilar scored with 3:17 remaining in the second overtime period to give American the victory. Stanford's junior goalkeeper and NorPac Co-Defensive Player of the Month Rebecca Shapiro remained sharp as she tallied 13 saves, bringing her season total to 91.

The Cardinal round out their East Coast trip with a game against the Towson Tigers on Monday, October 9 at 2 pm ET. The Tigers are 3-10 this season and have been outscored by their opponents 102-58. The Cardinal return to The Farm on Wednesday, October 11 at 2 pm to face the Big Red of Cornell.
