St. Louis, Mo. -- No. 3 Stanford (11-10) defeated No. 2 SW Missouri State 1-0 at the Anheuser-Busch Centre in today's second round game of the conference tournament.
Stanford dominated the game, but the teams remained scoreless until Melissa Stai recorded the only goal of the game with 12:07 left in the first overtime. Michelle Scott and Amanda Billmyer each recorded an assist on the play.
In the NorPac banquet on Thursday evening, the Cardinal's lone senior, Scott, was named NorPac Player of the Year. Scott was also named to First Team All-Conference, as were Stai and Billmyer. Sara Herman was named to the Second Team.
Stanford will face the Cal, the defending NorPac Champions in the title match on Saturday, Nov. 4 at 1 p.m. Head coach Sheryl Johnson has won eight NorPac titles during her tenure on The Farm.
