Stanford Men's Volleyball Wins Second Match in a Row

San Diego, Calif. -- The Stanford men's volleyball team won its second consecutive match with a 15-11, 15-7, 15-2 victory over UC San Diego today in San Diego. The match gives the Cardinal its second consecutive victory, pushing its season record to 4-6 overall and 4-4 in the Mountain Pacific Conference. San Diego falls to 3-7 overall and 0-7 in the MPSF.

Stanford received a match-high 15 kills from sophomore outside hitter Marcus Skacel, who also had 10 digs on the night. Skacel has now recorded 10 or more kills in the last four Cardinal matches.

Freshman outside hitter William Curtis recorder a season-high 12 kills against the Tritons. Curtis also finished the night with two assists and five digs. Junior setter Josh Lukens once again led the Cardinal in assists, tallying 49 to go along with his nine digs and four kills.

Stanford held UC San Diego to .147 percent hitting, allowing just 44 kills on 116 total attempts.

Stanford will play its next five matches at home, beginning with No. 4 Pepperdine on Thursday, February 17 at Maples Pavilion. The match will begin at 7 p.m.
