13-Time Defending Champion Women's Swimming In Third Place After First Day Of Pac-10 Championships

LONG BEACH, Calif. - Stanford's 13-time defending Pacific-10 Champion women's swimming and divingteam is in third place following the first day of action at the 2000Pacific-10 Championships at the Belmont Plaza Olympic Pool.

The Cardinal did have a pair of individual winners among the day's sevenevents. Catherine Fox won the 50 free in a season-best 22.76, while JessicaFoschi picked up a Pac-10 title in the 500 free also in a season-best4:40.37. Both times were automatic NCAA qualifying marks.

The 2000 Pacific-10 Conference Championships continue Friday andSaturday.
