SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - The Stanford men's golf team finished in seventh place of the 55th annual Western Intercollegiate, hosted by San Jose State University at Pasatiempo Golf Course on Tuesday. The Cardinal recorded a three-round total of 882 to tie for seventh with Pepperdine. Oregon ran away with the 18-team tournament title with a score of 850, 10 over par. Washington finished second with a score of 867 while Kansas (872), Pacific (876) and Cal (877) round out the top five.
The Cardinal had one Top 20 finisher as junior Philip Rowe posted a seven-over par 217 for 15th place. He shot rounds of 70-72-75 over three rounds and was the only player for Stanford to shoot even par (70). Senior Jimmy Lee was consistent throughout the tournament with scores of 72-74-73 for a 219 total (+9). Senior Alex Aragon had a 76 and 74 in the opening two rounds and came back with a 72 in the final round for a 222 (+12), good for 35th place. Senior Eric Dahlberg shot a 229 (80-75-74) and sophomore Jim Seki carded a 232 (75-78-79).
Stanford will travel to Arizona State's Karsten Golf Course on April 13-14 for its final road tournament of the regular season. Stanford Golf Course will host back-to-back tournaments on April 21-22 and April 27-29, beginning with the U.S. Intercollegiate. Stanford is also the site of the Pac-10 Championships this year (April 27-29).
