TEMPE, Ariz. - The Stanford men's golf team is in 21st place after two rounds at the Thunderbird/Savane Invitational, hosted by Arizona State University at Karsten Golf Course. The Cardinal had a 36-hole total of 595, while Texas leads the 22-team tournament with a team score of 554. USC (559), Houston (559), Arizona State (563) and Pepperdine (567) round out the top five.
For Stanford, senior Alex Aragon was the top finisher after carding rounds of 73 and 72. He is in 52nd place. Sophomore Jim Seki shot a 71 in the opening round and followed with a 75 to sit in 60th. Senior Jimmy Lee had a rough first round, shooting an 83, but came back strong to post a 68 in the second round. Senior Eric Dahlberg recorded a 76 and a 77. Junior Philip Rowe, the fifth Cardinal golfer, withdrew from the event.
The 54-hole tournament concludes on Saturday.
