Stanford, Calif. - The Stanford women's golf team shot a tournament low 294 today as they won the Peg Barnard Collegiate at the Stanford Golf Course in Stanford, Calif. The Cardinal's two-day total of 595 was 15 strokes ahead of second place finisher San Jose State (610). Rounding out the top five were California (613), Washington (615) and Oregon (620).
Three Cardinal golfers placed in the top 10 while five finished in the top 15.
Stanford senior Stephanie Keever, playing in her final home tournament, tied for second individually shooting rounds of 75-72--147. Freshman Angela Rho tied for fifth with a 149 while senior Hilary Homeyer tied for seventh, one stroke back, at 150 (74-76). Sophomore Kim Rowton (77-75) and freshman Kim Kouwabunpat (75-77) tied for 12th at 152. Freshman Marcia Wallis, competing as an individual tied for 25th, carding a 157 (79-78). Jessica Belskis, also competing as an individual, placed 57th with a 170 (86-84).
Oregon's Jerilyn White took top honors individually, shooting an even par 144 for the tourney.
Stanford is next in action at 2001 Pacific-10 Championships, held in Tempe, Arizona at the Karsten Golf Course.
