Philadelphia, Pa - Omer Inan, a sophomore from Beaverton, Or, captured the discus competition to highlight Stanford's activities on Friday at the prestigious Penn Relays.
Inan won the competition with a toss of 184-10 (56.34m).
Inan also competed in the shot put where he finished 13th with a throw of 50-4 (15.34m). Matt Rausch of UNC Charlotte won the competition at 57-1 (17.40m).
In another section of the discus, Nick Welihozkiy finished seventh with a toss of 168-8 (50.80m).
The women's 4 x 1,500 meter relay team of Ashley Couper, Erin Sullivan, Lauren Fleshman and Sally Glynn placed second with a time of 17:37.27. Arkansas won the event in a time of 17:34.63. The Cardinal's men's distance medley relay team competed on Friday but did not finish the race.
On Saturday, Stanford's participation will include the 4 x 800 meter relay for men and women, the 4 x mile relay for men, the hammer with Nick Welihozkiy competing, and Chad Wassink competing in the javelin.
