Final Stats

STANFORD, Calif. (AP) - Lindsey Yamasaki scored 21 points in the championship game of the Stanford Invitational, leading No. 9 Stanford to an 87-64 victory Saturday night over UC Santa Barbara.

"Lindsey's playing great at both ends of the floor," Stanford coach Tara VanDerveer said.

Yamasaki, who was named the tournament MVP, scored 10 points in the first four minutes for the Cardinal (2-0), who jumped out to a 17-3 lead.

The young Gauchos (1-1) struggled against the bigger Stanford frontcourt, making just 2 of their first 13 shots from the field, and shot just 28.6 percent in the first half.

"We just pounded it at the start," Stanford's Lauren St. Clair said.

The Cardinal played impressive defense all night long, forcing 30 turnovers. Lindsay Taylor led Santa Barbara with 15 points, and Nicole Powell had 12 points and four steals.

In the tournament's third place game, Heather Cassady scored 24 points to lead Indiana (1-1) past Western Kentucky (0-2) 85-70.

Erin McGinnis had 18 points and 10 rebounds for the Hoosiers, and Leslie Logsdon topped Western Kentucky with 19 points.
