Palm Desert, Calif. - The Stanford men's golf team finished play in 11th place with a three round total of 869 (291-286-292) in The Prestige at the Desert Willow Golf Resort on Tuesday. Washington captured the title after firing its third consecutive round below par to finish with a 844. Kansas and Colorado tied for second place (849), followed by Northwestern (852) and UC Davis (857).
North Carolina's Dustin Bray and Washington's Brock Mackenzie shared medalist honors each totaling a 203. Colorado's Joe Liley fired a 207 to finish the tournament in third.
The Cardinal were lead by Philip Rowe (70-67-74) who fired a five-under 211 for the tournament. Jim Seki (73-70-72) tied for 23rd with a one-under 215. Blake Mastalir (73-75-75) and Pat Phillips (75-77-71) each carded a 223 to tie for 62nd. Kevin Blue (75-74-76) finished tied for 73rd place with a three round total of 225.
Tuesday's schedule had called for just the final round of play, but all players were still on the course with four holes to play Monday due to darkness. Round two was concluded this morning, followed by round three.
The Prestige, hosted by UC Davis and Stanford, is in its second year of bringing together 20 of the nation's top academic and golf-playing universities.
