ANN ARBOR, Mich. --Stanford (7-0) closed out the weekend in Ann Arbor with two more victories, a 12-0 blanking of Slippery Rock and an 11-3 win over Michigan. After defeating Indiana and Michigan by a 29-point margin yesterday, the Cardinal continued its impressive performance, outscoring its opponents 56-7 on the weekend.
Stanford returned to the pool this morning and smothered the Slippery Rock offense, giving the Cardinal its first shutout of the season with the 12-0 win. The final game pitted Stanford against the hosting Wolverines for the second time this weekend. Stanford dominated this game as well, taking an 11-3 victory.
Margie Dingeldein led the Cardinal with 10 goals in four games and team-leader Brenda Villa tallied six goals as fourteen different Stanford players recorded a goal at the Invitational. The Cardinal resume play next weekend as they travel to Goleta, Calif. for the UCSB Tournament on Sat., Feb. 24 and Sun., Feb. 25.
