Los Angeles, Calif. -- Stanford (9-4 overall, 6-3 MPSF) upended conference rival UCLA (13-5 overall, 7-3 MPSF) in a closely contested five-game match. The Cardinal captured the victory 30-28, 30-27, 28-30, 27-30, 18-16 after two hours and 22 minutes to end the Bruins three-match win streak.
Sophomore Curt Toppel led all players with 26 kills (.415) while junior Marcus Skacel tallied 23. Stanford held UCLA to a .318 team hitting percentage, while hitting .379. Senior Josh Lukens contributed seven kills and 16 digs to help the Cardinal defeat the Bruins.
Stanford will be back in action tomorrow, Sat., March 10 against #12 UC Irvine at 7 p.m.
