Los Angeles, Ca - The top-ranked Stanford water polo team exploded for five goals in the second quarter enroute to a convincing 10-5 victory over second-ranked USC on Saturday at the McDonald's Swim Stadium.
Peter Hudnut and Jeff Nesmith each scored two goals in Stanford's second period outburst as the Cardinal led 7-2 at intermission.
The Cardinal extended its lead to 10-3 after three periods, thanks to goals by Tony Azevedo, Pasi Dutton and Brian Darrow. Azevedo scored three goals to increase his team-leading total to 12.
Stanford, now 3-0 overall and 2-0 in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation, travels to UCLA on Sunday for a noon game.
