Stockton, Calif. - The Stanford men's volleyball team picked up its third win of the season against Pacific, 3-0, Tuesday night at the Spanos Center in Stockton. With the victory, the Cardinal improve to 3-1 overall and 2-1 in the MPSF.
Stanford took game one by a score of 30-16 and followed with a dominating performance in game two, winning 30-14. The Cardinal hit .667 for the second game to the Pacific's -.045 clip. Stanford held off a late surge by the Tigers to complete the sweep in game three 30-25.
Junior opposite hitter Curt Toppel (Pacific Palisades, CA) pounded a match-high 15 kills and two service aces. Paul Bocage (Princeton, NJ) added 12 kills and made only one error in 14 swings for a .786 clip. Marcus Skacel (Laguna Niguel, CA) recorded a match-high 7 digs and also pitched in seven kills. Kevin Hansen (Newport Beach, CA) dished out 39 assists and had six digs and two kills.
The Cardinal have weekend off and will next take the court on Friday, Jan. 25 against CS Northridge. First serve is schedule for 7 p.m. in Maples Pavilion.
