Men's Volleyball Defeats CS Northridge In Three

Northridge, Calif. - The sixth-ranked Stanford men's volleyball team ended its five-match losing streak with a 30-28, 30-22, 30-24 victory over No. 13 CS Northridge on Saturday night at the Matadome. Junior Curt Toppel (Pacific Palisades, CA) notched a match-high 17 kills for the Cardinal, who improved to 6-6 overall and 5-4 in the MPSF.

Toppel posted a .654 hitting percentage with no errors in 26 attempts en route to his 17 kills. Freshman Craig Buell (Solana Beach, CA) added 11 kills and four blocks for the Cardinal. Stanford controlled the net, out-blocking the Matadors 9-3. As a team the Cardinal finished the match with a .544 hitting percentage to Northridge's .322.

Eckhard Walter recorded a team-high 16 kills for Northridge.

The Cardinal will return home to face Pacific on Tuesday, Jan. 12. Match-time is set for 7 p.m. in Burnham Pavilion..
