Stanford, CA - The Cardinal women's lacrosse team moved their record to 6-6 after three consecutive conference wins in the last two weeks. On Sunday afternoon the Card recorded a 14-7 victory over the Denver Pioneers on Maloney Field. Senior tri-captain Emily Rodriguez, along with sophomore Abbi Hills and freshman Claire Calzonetti each registered a hat-trick against the Pioneers, while five other Stanford players each put in one goal. Junior goalkeeper Virginia Solomon started in the cage for Stanford and registered 5 saves while allowing 5 goals, for a .500 save percentage. Junior Rachael Neumann came in during the second half to replace her and chalked up 11 saves with only 2 goals allowed.
Stanford is now 6-0 in the MPLL and remains the only undefeated team in the league. The Cardinal has not lost a league match since the middle of the 1999-2000 season and has never lost a game against another WWLL or MPLL foe under the direction of head coach Michele Uhlfelder.
Stanford now heads East for two games next weekend, they face Boston College on Friday, April 19 at 7:30pm (ET) and UNH on Sunday, April 21 at 12pm (ET). The following week they finish up the season with two more league matches. The Card will battle Bay Area rival California in Berkeley on April 27th and come back home for their final regular season match to take on UC Davis on April 30th.
