OJAI, Calif. - Stanford University's Scott Lipsky (Merrick, NY) and David Martin (Tulsa, OK) fell in the final of the Pacific-10 Conference Doubles Championship on Sunday afternoon at Libbey Park.
Lipsky and Martin, who are ranked No. 2 in the nation, fell to top-ranked Marcin Matkowski and Julien Rojer of UCLA 9-7. The match was the fourth of the season between the teams, and the third in a tournament final. The season series between the teams is now tied at 2-2.
The eighth-ranked Cardinal won now turn its focus to the NCAA Team Championships. Stanford is expected to be one of 64 teams selected to participate, and the pairings will be announced on Thursday. The NCAA Tournament will begin on 16 campus sites (Stanford is a likely host) with first and second round competition on May 11 and 12 (Saturday-Sunday).
