Stanford, Calif. - The 2001 Stanford women's volleyball team was recognized by United States Senator Barbara Boxer (California) with an official congressional record statement which was read to the Senate on Tuesday, March 12 in Washington, D.C.
Senator Boxer honored both the Stanford women's volleyball team and the Santa Clara women's soccer team for the national championships in the fall.
"They are great examples of team spirit and cooperation," said Senator Boxer. "Both teams are an inspiration to all, especially to young women and girls who are themselves members of sports teams. I wish all the team members the best in whatever road they find themselves on after this great accomplishment."
A plaque with a copy of the congressional record which was read by Mrs. Boxer in Washington, was presented to the volleyball team by field representative Adrienne Bousian.
