Opening Statement: I'm pleased. The first half was rugged, we didn't do a good job and Cal didn't react well. We got great contributions from Josh Childress and Matt Lottich off the bench, and Julius Barnes. The turnovers were a concern, they were very sloppy.
Q. How do you think Casey Jacobsen handled Joe Shipp defensively?
A. Joe definitely challenged Casey, and if not for a few transition baskets, Casey would have done what he set out to do. He always looks for the challenge.
Q. Can you comment on Julius' progress?
A. He's been practicing well and he's playing with a lot of confidence. The practice is really paying off. He's been better and more consistent. He used to be very streaky, but the ball is coming off his hands nicely now. The ball has been going in for him. Especially what they do with Casey, it allows other guys to get off shots and Julius has taken advantage of that.

Q. Why have you been scoring so much?
A. I don't know! I put in a lot of work in the off season on my jumper and work out with weights three times a week. When guys focus on Casey and Curtis, it gives me the opportunity. I just have to go out and make the most of it.
Q. Has starting the past few games had an impact?
A. Yes, starting gives you confidence because it means coach is putting his confidence in you to go out and be productive.

Opening Statement: I was pleased with our effort on Casey and Curtis, we did an effective job containing those two. Most teams would go in thinking that holding Casey to seven points and forcing him to make four turnovers would be great. Julius and Matt Lottich gave them a cushion, though. It was an effective job by their guys. I thought we hurt ourselves in our shot selection. We were very stagnant and we didn't have guys stepping up. We need to play more aggressive ball.
Q. Was it a bit of a downer for your team when Stanford started to pull away?
A. It was. They started settling for outside shots, took us away from our game. We needed better ball-reversal, less one-on-one. We started taking timeouts. We thought we fueled their runs with our quick, ill-advised shots. We weren't getting inside or to the free throw line. We weren't getting any high percentage shots.

Q. What changed in the second half?
A. Effort. We lacked effort. They played a lot harder, they made some shots and we didn't defend it. They got a lot more open, better looks than we did. We didn't do a good job defending the guards. We'll work on it for Sunday.

Q. Were you forced out of your rhythm in the second half?
A. Yes, we were playing catch-up ball in the second half and it took us away from our post game.
