Oregon State Comes From Behind To Defeat Stanford 31-21.

STANFORD, Calif. (AP) - Steven Jackson ran for 230 yards and a touchdown as Oregon State rallied for a 31-21 victory over Stanford on Saturday.

Derek Anderson's 46-yard pass to James Newson with 9:36 remaining put theBeavers (7-4, 3-4 Pac-10) ahead to stay and made them bowl-eligible with theirthird win in four games.

Kerry Carter rushed for 80 yards and a touchdown as Stanford (2-8, 1-6) lostits fourth straight.

Junior Kirk Yliniemi was 3-for-3 on field goals, setting an Oregon Staterecord with 12 consecutive made field goals.

The go-ahead touchdown was set up by Terrell Roberts' second interception ofthe season.

Oregon State's Dennis Erickson coached his 200th game. Erickson, who coachedpreviously at Idaho, Wyoming, Washington State and Miami, has an overall recordof 143-56-1.

Dwight Wright added a 4-yard touchdown run to make it 31-21. Jackson's70-yard run set up the score. Jackson has rushed for over 200 yards three timesthis season.

The Cardinal held a 21-6 lead at halftime, but Oregon State closed the gapon the first play from scrimmage in the second half. Jackson, the Pac-10'sleading rusher, found an opening along the right side and raced 58 yardsvirtually untouched into the end zone to make it 21-13.

Yliniemi's third field goal of the game, a 24-yarder early in the fourthquarter, brought the Beavers to 21-16.

Stanford took the early lead when Kyle Matter threw a 49-yard TD pass toLuke Powell, the longest touchdown pass of the season. That ended a six-play,91-yard drive, only the fifth time all season the Beavers have allowed a driveof 80 yards or more.

Stanford took advantage of two big plays to score a pair of second-quartertouchdowns. T.J. Rushing picked off his second pass of the season, returning it63 yards to Oregon State's 7-yard line. Two plays later, Carter scored on a1-yard run.

Powell returned a punt 32 yards that led to Matter's 31-yard touchdown passto senior fullback Casey Moore.

Stanford sophomore Will Svitek played tight end and defensive end. Hestarted the season as a defensive end but was switched to tight end after threegames. Injuries forced Svitek into double duty.
