Irvine, Calif. - The seventh-ranked Stanford men's volleyball picked up its fourth consecutive victory with a 3-0 (30-23, 30-21, 30-24) sweep at No. 10 UC Irvine in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation match at Crawford Hall on Friday night.

The Cardinal improve to 12-7 overall and 11-5 in conference play, ending the Anteaters' three-match winning streak. UC Irvine evens its record to 10-10 and 5-9 in the MPSF.

Stanford was led by Marcus Skacel (Laguna Niguel, CA) with 16 kills followed by Curt Toppel (Pacific Palisades, CA) with 12 kills. Skacel and Billy Strickland (Malibu, CA) each recorded six digs for the Cardinal. Setter Kevin Hansen (Newport Beach, CA) dished out a match-high 41 assists in the win.

The Cardinal dominated the net, outblocking UC Irvine 11-5.5, with Paul Bocage (Princeton, NJ) tallying eight block assists. Stanford also out hit the Anteaters .391-.155 for the match.

Erick Helenihi paced Irvine with 17 kills, while Jarett Jensen had eight kills.

Stanford concludes its three-match road trip with a stop in Los Angeles to face top-ranked UCLA tomorrow night at Pauley Pavilion. First serve is set for 5 p.m.
