Los Angeles, Calif. - The seventh-ranked Stanford men's volleyball team fell in straight games to No. 1 UCLA (32-30, 30-21, 30-24) on Saturday night in front of 3,002 fans in Pauley Pavilion. With the loss the Cardinal fall to 12-8 overall and 11-6 in the MPSF, while the Bruins improve to 19-3, 13-2 in conference play.
The Cardinal put up a fight in the first game, but fell 32-30 despite hitting a .405 clip. UCLA dominated the next two games to complete the sweep and end Stanford's four-match winning streak.
Marcus Skacel (Laguna Niguel, CA) and Billy Strickland (Malibu, CA) were the only Cardinal to record double-figures in kills, each posting 13. Skacel also added a team-high seven digs and Kyle Strache (Malibu, CA) registered two service aces. Kevin Hansen (Newport Beach, CA) dished out 31 assists and tallied two blocks.
Scott Morrow and Cameron Mount led four Bruins in double kill figures, each finishing with 13.
Stanford will have two weeks off before being its final four-match homestand. The Cardinal will return to the court on Friday, March 29 against Long Beach State at 7 p.m. in Maples Pavilion.
