Lightweight Women Wins The Pacific Coast Rowing Championships

Rancho Cordova, Calif. - Lake Natoma - The 5th ranked Stanford Lightweight Women's varsity eight avenged anearlier loss to the 6th ranked U.C. Santa Barbara Gauchos at thePacific Coast Rowing Championships. In the finals, UCSB and Stanfordquickly established themselves as they crossed the first 500 metermark with open water on the field. Stanford then made a push at the1000 Meter mark and was able to get open water on the Gauchos. The Cardinal finished the race 20 seconds ahead of U.C.Santa Barbara.

Head Coach Al Acosta Commented "I think we were all a bit surprisedby the margin, those were tough conditions. However, it was clearlyour best performance of the season. The team is looking forward togetting in some good training before we head off to Cherry Hill, NewJersey for the National Championships."
