Los Angeles, Calif. - No. 1 Stanford improved to 6-0 today after defeating No. 4 California (2-1) and No. 3 UC Irvine (3-2) on the final day of competition at the SoCal Tournament on the campus of USC.

The Cardinal advanced to this morning's semifinal after claiming victories over Long Beach State and UC San Diego on Saturday. Sophomore Tony Azevedo tallied his fourth hat trick of the season and fellow U.S. National Team member senior Peter Hudnut also chipped in three goals. Senior Jeff Nesmith and sophomore Greg Crum also posted one goal each. Stanford's three-time All-American goalkeeper senior Nick Ellis defended the net with nine saves to ensure the Cardinal victory.

Ellis remained strong in goal, recording three saves as the Cardinal downed UC Irvine 10-6.
