Kansas City, Mo. - Sophomore Matt Gentry (Grants Pass, OR/North Valley) posted two wins in his second NCAA appearance today. Gentry now owns a 30-9 record on the season, good for his second consecutive 30-win season.
Gentry opened the day with a 6-1 decision over Northern Iowa's Chris Bitetto. The win advanced him into a bout with second-seeded Keaton Anderson (Ohio St.). The Buckeye managed a 12-4 win to send Gentry to the consolation bracket.
Gentry faced Cornell's Gabe Webster in his next match. Gentry had defeated Webster 4-0 at Midlands in December, and the Cardinal posted another win this evening with a 5-3 decision. Gentry will take on the twelfth-seeded Kenny Burleson (Missouri) tomorrow. Burleson posted two 14-3 major decisions but dropped a 2-0 decision to No. 5 Gray Maynard (Michigan St.) to fall into the consolation brackets.
