Kansas City, Mo. - Sophomore Matt Gentry (Grants Pass, OR/North Valley) posted four wins at the 2003 NCAA Championships. Gentry finished the season with a 32-10 record.
Gentry started Saturday with an 11-4 decision over the twelfth-seeded Kenny Burleson (Missouri) before posting a 5-3 win over Derek Jenkins (Rider).
Gentry's next opponent, Big 12 Champion Shane Roller (Oklahoma St.), pinned Gentry at 3:43. Roller went on to claim third place, scoring one decision and two pins to finish his season. Oklahoma State earned the 2003 NCAA Team Championship with 143 points, two NCAA Champions and seven All-Americans.
