Stanford enters Monday's series finale versus Washington State in first place in the Pac-10 standings by one-half game over California (6-3 Pac-10) ... Stanford's victories in the first two games of the series has given the Cardinal seven straight series and 17 wins in its last 22 games overall ... Carlos Quentin, Sam Fuld and Ryan Garko have been swinging the team's hottest bats ... Quentin has raised his team-high batting average to .316 and has a current career-high 18-game hit streak in which he is hitting .493 (35-71) ... Fuld established a new career-best yesterday by extending his current hit streak to 14 games (.484, 33-69) and has regained his spot on top of Stanford's career batting average list (.363) ... Fuld has taken over the team's lead in hits (48) and runs scored (32) ... Garko tied career-highs with two homers and four RBI in yesterday's game and is the team's leader in both homers (8) and RBI (41) ... Garko is hitting .586 (17-29) with four homers and 16 RBI in his last seven games ... Tobin Swope leads the club with 15 multiple-hit games ... Today's scheduled starter Mark Romanczuk was named Pac-10 Pitcher of the Week for the first time in his career on April 1 after throwing his first career complete game in a 4-2 win at Arizona State eight days earlier ... STANFORD-WASHINGTON STATE PREVIEW AND SERIES HISTORY
Stanford concludes its three-game series at Washington State on Monday (11 am). Stanford leads the all-time series, 22-13, and has won all 14 games versus Washington State since the Pac-10 expanded to include the Cougars in 1999. The Cardinal swept a three-game set at Sunken Diamond last season from May 24-26 (W, 10-0; W, 11-3; W, 8-2) and also won three in a row the last time the teams played in Pullman (May 18-20, 2001; W, 14-6; W, 19-3; W, 12-1).

Picked up his second straight win as a starter versus California (3/9), scattering six hits and two runs with seven strikeouts over the first 6.0 innings ... Stanford 6, at Washington State 1 (April 4, 2003)
John Hudgins tossed his second complete game of the season and the fifth of his career to lead Stanford to a 6-1 victory over Washington State in the opener of a three-game Pac-10 series at Bailey-Brayton Field. Carlos Quentin extended his career-best hit streak to 17 games, while Sam Fuld ran his to a career-high-tying 13 in a row. Jonny Ash (2-3, 2 RBI) was the only Stanford player with more than one hit, while Jed Lowrie added a pair of RBI. The victory moved Stanford into sole possession of first place in the Pac-10, one-half game ahead of UCLA (3-1 Pac-10). The Bruins defeated California, 10-2, on Friday evening.
Hudgins, who won for the first time since also going the distance at California on March 7, allowed just seven hits and one run while striking out six in the fastest Stanford game of the season, which clocked in at two hours and one minute.
The only run off Hudgins came on a two-out solo homer in the bottom of the sixth by Jeremy Farrar. Hudgins gave up more than one hit only once in the sixth frame and was benefited by a double play prior to Farrar's homer. The Cardinal turned its second double play to get out of the eighth inning after the Cougars had put runners on first and second with one out.
Washington State's Tony Banaszak (1-7) suffered the loss despite holding the Cardinal to seven hits and pitching his third complete game of the season.
Wes Falkenborg (2-4, 2B) was the only Washington State player with more than one hit.
Stanford's victory made the Cardinal a perfect 13-0 versus Washington State since the Cougars rejoined the Pac-10 in 1999. The Cardinal holds an all-time lead in the series, 21-13.
Stanford's seven-hit effort ended the team's string of 12 consecutive games with double-digit hits.
Stanford 12, at Washington State 5 (April 5, 2003)
Ryan Garko (3-4, 2 HR, 4 RBI) blasted a pair of two-run homers and tied a career-high with four RBI, while Carlos Quentin (4-5, 2B, 3 RBI) extended his career-high hit streak to 18 games to lead No. 4 Stanford (20-10, 6-2 Pac-10) to a 12-5 victory over Washington State (9-21, 1-4 Pac-10) at Bailey-Brayton Field on Saturday. Matt Manship (1-2) picked up his first career collegiate victory, allowing only one run and one hit with four strikeouts in a career-high 4.2 innings of relief. The victory kept Stanford in first-place in the Pac-10 standings by one game over California (5-3 Pac-10), an 8-6 winner at UCLA on Saturday. Stanford also wrapped up its seventh straight series victory and has won 18 of its last 22 games overall.
Brian Hall (2-5, 3B, RBI), Danny Putnam (2-5, RBI), Tobin Swope (2-5, RBI) and Sam Fuld (2-5) each added two of Stanford's 17 hits, marking the 13th time in the last 14 games that the Cardinal has posted double-digits in hits. Fuld established a new career-best by extending his hit streak to 14 games, while Swope posted his team-leading 15th multiple-hit game of the season.
Quentin, who is hitting .493 during his 18-game hit streak, raised his team-leading overall batting average to .416 with his second four-hit game and fifth multiple-hit effort in his last six contests.
Fuld is hitting at a .478 clip during his 14-game hit streak and has an updated career batting average of .363, one percentage point ahead of the second-place .362 mark posted by the late Jack Shepard from 1951-53. This season, Fuld paces the club with 48 hits and 32 runs scored, and is hitting at a .348 clip.
Garko is hitting a blistering .586 with four homers and 16 RBI in his last seven games and picked up his 200th collegiate hit with his eighth-inning homer. He leads the team with eight homers and 41 RBI on the season and is second on the club with a .369 batting average.
Wes Falkenborg (2-4, 2B, 2 RBI), Justin Hart (2-4, HR, RBI) and Jay Miller (2-5) each had two of Washington State's 10 hits.
Washington State's Bryce Chamberlin (3-3) was charged with the loss, allowing eight runs and 12 hits over the first 5.1 innings.
