The Stanford Women's Sailing Team will battle the best in the west for one of the two Pacific Coast berths to the National Championships (Detroit, June 2-4). The Pacific Coast Championships will be sailed on Saturday and Sunday, April 26-27 in Stanford's home waters of Redwood City. The Cardinal Women will be defending their '02 title as Women's PCC Champs. Last year, A-Division Jen Porter with crews Jess Gray/Kara Sweeney and B-Division Ashley Frush with crews Jenais Zarlin/Sarah Zukerman dominated the '02 Champs hosted by USC.
Standing in presently unranked Stanford's way will be a formidable challenge by 3rd-ranked U Hawaii and 14th-ranked UC Santa Barabara. Unranked USC will also be a threat. Also competing will be UC Irvine, Cal, UC Santa Cruz, CSU Monterey Bay and UCLA.
Sailing will be in Redwood City Creek from 11am-5pm Saturday and 10am-4pm Sunday. Awards will be presented Sunday at 4pm at the Stanford Boathouse.
Team Racing Qualifiers for the Open Nationals
Treasure Island Sailing Center in San Francisco, CA - The Team Racing Pacific Coast Championship was held in near perfect conditions this past weekend with 12 teams competing for a berth in the 2003 Hinman (US SAILING's National Championship for Team Racing, one team from each of 10 districts is invited). The rotation format consisted of a single round robin followed by a seeded final 4, bracket-style championship round. A total of 80 races were completed using a fully umpired format. Stanford varsity skippers were the top college team, beating out rivals U Hawaii and USC.

Team Racing and Fleet Racing Qualifiers for College Nationals
The Stanford Coed sailors will battle for a top-2 position at the Team and Fleet Race qualifiers held May 1-3 in USC's home waters of Long Beach, California. Only the top two teams will move on to the Collegiate Nationals in Detroit (June 5-10). The entire country is interested in this match up, which will pit 4-ranked Hawaii, 7-ranked USC and 11-ranked Stanford against each other for the first time since Stanford won the McIntyre Team Race in March.
